A thirty-year-old Luweero woman, Aidah Naluyange is in police custody following a cruel act in which she beheaded her one-week old baby identified as Mariam Nassonko and subsequently tried to kill
herself while in a police cell.
The lady Aidah Naluyange that hails from Kakinzi village, Butuntumula sub-county in Luwero informed her mother-in-law about beheading her baby with a panga which took the baby’s life on spot although she said it was the handiwork of evil spirits, media was informed by Salim Zimula Sserunkuuma, the Kakabala parish councilor.
The Councilor went on to inform that the baby’s grandmother immediately informed local
leaders and residents about the tragic happening that saw Aidah Naluyange get arrested by the
police.
Despite the fact that the accused blames the happening on evil spirits, many people were perplexed by the entire happening since Aidah had never exhibited any signs of mental illness or violence tendencies.
Even the baby’s father Robert Kitandwe who was away on business errands was only informed by means of a phone that left him open mouthed as he did not expect his spouse to behead their one-week old baby.
While Aidah Naluyange was being sent to the coolers, the baby’s lifeless body was taken to Luwero Hospital by the police for a postmortem report to be made which after saw it being returned to the grieving family.
Basing on the Savannah Regional Police spokesperson Isah Ssemwogerere, while under police custody, Aidah Naluyange tried to kill herself and was only saved by a police officer that was guarding her cell.
This prompted the Uganda police to take her to Luwero Hospital for medical evaluation.
