Previously, it was being reported that parliament of Uganda had stopped annual Nyege Nyege festival 2022 from happening. This was after the Tororo Woman Member of Parliament Sarah Opendi tabled the motion to stop the event from happening on sexual immorality grounds.

Parliament caught fire instantly and speaker Hon. Anita Among was caught in mixed decisions when the State Minister for Tourism Hon. Mart Mugarra came in defense for Nyege Nyege festival 2022 saying that it attracts tourism and more so, over 8,000 tourists had bought tickets already.

That is when parliament decided to set mandatory guidelines to be followed if Nyege Nyege festival 2022 is to happen. And here are the conditions that were put in place and failure to follow them, the event will be canceled even if it will have already started.

Age Restriction

First condition is that, there should not be any person under the age of 18 that should be allowed to enter into the venue. This year’s Nyege fest will be held at Itanda falls, and all preparations were heading to completion. So, if the organisers want things to go on, they should put up measures that will see anyone below 18 years will not access the venue.

No Sexual Immoral Activities

Parliament decided that, if Nyege Nyege festival 2022 is to go on, organisers must make sure that there wont be any sexual immoralities that take place at the venue. This is the major reason why the festival was stopped, so organisers should ensure that there is no eating of the apples that takes place.

But we don’t know how this will be ensured because the event takes place from the jungle and tents are always for two. Maybe we shall need more Majje to be around and do tent checking and bush checking all the time.

No Indecent Dressing

While tabling the motion in parliament, Hon Sarah Opendi said that the event is always full of indecent dressing, a reason there is too much sexual activities. So, if organisers want their event to go on, they should make sure people put on clothes that cover all bodies and there should not be any kind of bad touches and erotic moves. Kaweddemu dda! we don’t think people are still interested in going to Nyege nyege festival 2022 if there is not sexy dressing and some ka sexth.
