Makindye West MP Allan Ssewanyana commonly known as ‘Omusajja wa Bwino’ is said to be held up in an unknown place after being released from Kigo Prison on Thursday evening.
Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago who is his lawyer said that Ssewanyana was re-arrested. This happened at the Entrance of Kigo prison after he was released on bail last evening.
Following a video footage which shows Allan Ssewanyana in his grey suit, he was arrested in. while walking outside the gates of Kigo government prison. As he talks to some prison guards and as he makes his way to the road, a drone cuts him off. And a group of security operatives in black forces him into the drone and drives away.
However his fellow NUP representative co -accused and Kawempe North MP Muhammad Ssegirinya was still in Kigo Government prison after his release papers not being signed on by the International crimes division Court.
Yet the legislators were granted a 40 million cash bail. This was given by the Masaka High Court Judge Victoria Nakintu on the 21st of September but update, they have not been released from prison.
Justice Victoria Nakintu granted the Two MPs their temporary freedom. On grounds that bail was their constitutional right and had substantial sureties including Hon. Ibrahim Sssemuju , MP for
Kira Municipality, Hon. Boniface Mutabazi, MP for Kalungu East, and Bukomasimbi woman MP
Nanyondo Veronica will ensure that the suspects return to court when summoned.
