The Resident City Commissioner of Rubaga division, Burora Herbert Anderson has tendered in his resignation to President Museveni following his suspension. It should be noted that Burora Herbert as suspended from office a few days ago. He however attributes his suspension to the Speaker of Parliament, Hon Anita Among.
Following the Uganda Parliament Exhibition on social media which exposed a lot of alleged rot in the August House much of which was pinning the Speaker as a corrupt person, a lot of people came out to criticize her. Among these was Burora the DRCC went ahead to refer to the Speaker as a Marie Antoinette sort of character.
Additionally, he said that he would never apologize to the speaker in a bid to salvage his job. Also a few days ago, Burora Herbert Anderson handed over the instruments of his office as he awaited ruling from the President. However, he has not waited for the final verdict from State House and has asked for an early retirement.
Taking to his X page, he posted a notice he had tendered in to the President asking for an early discharge from office. In his resignation, he appreciated the president for employing him for the past five and a half years both in Nakawa division and Rubaga division.
The young politician notified the President of a meeting he (Museveni) had with Among on 13th March. And a day after, the Rubaga RCC was shown the exit door by the secretary in the President’s office. He went ahead to say that he had the President ordered for his suspension for the negative comments about the Speaker’s alleged corruption.
Burora Herbert Anderson also pointed out how he refused to apologize to the speaker which was the only condition for his reinstatement. Furthermore, he pointed out the reasons as to why he has decided to resign despite the President’s verdict being yet out. The reasons are as follows:-
- Loss of public trust on whether I can still ably represent you, cognizant of the fact that my suspension was triggered by corruption related comments.
- If my suspension was to be lifted, the attitude of the public towards my office will be different, which will affect my productivity.
- The precedent will deter other RDCs from pursuing the corrupt.
- Corruption will rise because public servants will prefer silence to remain in good books of their superiors.
“Your Excellency, it is on these grounds that I request you to retire me from service, so that I don’t bring further disrepute to your name, office and I thank you for the opportunity you gave me to serve, and hope that my request will be put under your consideration.” the letter ended.

It’s waited to see if the President will acknowledge receipt of this letter and in fact discharge him. A lot of people have come to praise his courage especially when the Speaker’s critics are made to bow down when she barks.
