Sad news coming to our desk indicate how Lord Mayor of Kampala city Erias Lukwago has been badly assaulted by Ofwono Opondo. This happened live on NBS Television air while appearing on the Frontline show where many issues were discussed.
This happened in company of Winnie Kiiza the former Leader of Opposition and others that were in studio. Dr. Kiiza Besigye has been the first to condemn that act by saying that the NRM government Junta spokesperson is still threatening Erias Lukwago despite getting off air.
“Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has been badly assaulted by Mr Ofwono Opondo, the NRM Junta Spokesperson, during a live NBS Tv FRONTLINE program. He is still holed up at the NBS media house offices, while Opondo continues to threaten further attack on him! It’s sad that the media house can’t secure their guests. They’ll be held responsible for all the trauma and damage suffered by the Lord Mayor of our Capital City.” Dr. Kiiza Besigye noted.
On the same note, Erias Lukwago has made a statement saying that he is in short of words, and is in a horrible state. He appeals to Ugandans to pray for him to leave the NBS television premises safely and alive. He clearly shows he is traumatized.
“Short of words to explain what has happened to me at NBS Tv frontline. Horrible, despicable! Fellow Ugandans, it is horrible. My only prayer is that i get out of this place safely” Erias Lukwago posted on his social media accounts minutes after being assaulted by Ofwono Opondo.
