Earl Simmons commonly known as DMX his stage was born in 1970 December 18th . He was an
American rapper that rose to fame in the 1990s when he released his debut ‘Its dark in hell’ He
then released his best-selling Album ‘And then there was X’ which sold over 250k copies within
the first week of its release.
DMX was also an actor who featured in ‘Romeo must die, Belly, Cradle to the grave and Last hour.’ After his legal situation DMX returned to the studio to complete his fourth album, The Great Depression. This album hit the streets in October 23, 2001.
It was his fourth album to debut at number one on the Billboard 200, featuring the singles “Who We Be, We Right Here” and “Shorty Was the Bomb” Despite the album’s triple Platinum certification. Its success was lower than his previous album.
His fifth album, Grand Champ, again debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 charts, grading DMX as the only musical artist in history to release five consecutive albums that debuted at number one.
After its release, he informed the public that he planned to retire and that Grand Champ would be his final album DMX, was a Christian who read his Bible every single day. He was also a deacon in Church and dreamt of being ordained as a pastor.
He is survived by 15 children some of whom he begot in extramarital affairs he had during his marriage to his childhood friend Tashera Simmons whom he was married too for 15 years before she announced their separation.
Before his death DMX had openly talked about his crack cocaine addiction which began when he was 14years old after he smoked a marijuana laced with drugs. He also announced that he a Bipolar disorder.
DMX first went to prison in 1986 after he had stolen a dog and was sentenced to 2 years in Juvenile but days to his hearing DMX and his cellmate escaped prison and went back home to
New York city to his mother.
His mother forced him to turn himself in so that he could finish his sentence which he did. Being a public figure DMX’s offenses range from resisting arrest, animal cruelty, reckless driving, drug possession, unlicensed driving and identity falsification.
At the beginning of April DMX was rushed to hospital and was believed to have had a heart attack. The doctors in a hospital at White Plains reported lung failure and no brain activity even though he was on life support machines at the time.
He was termed to be “comatose” which meant that he would undergo tests to determine his brain’s functionality and his family would know what to do next after that.
Cause of Death
By the time of his death, DMX was reported to have lost functionality of essential body organs
including his lungs according to the statement said by his family.
DMX’s net worth is believed to be only $1million. One wonders how he could fall so low and yet
