Owobusobozi Bisaka Dosteo Biography
Owobusobozi Dosteo Bisaka was born 11 June 1930 at Kitoma Kiboizi village, in the Parish of Bujuni, Buyanja county, Kibaale district in Western Uganda. His parents were Petero Byombi and Agnes Kaboora.
Both of them were staunch members of the local Catholic parish of Bujuni (Bisaka 1987). According to Bisaka, he spent little time with his parents, as he lived and grew up with his grandparents from the age of eight years. His grandfather Alifonso Wenkere worked as a catechist, but it was his grandmother Nyakakake who taught him about God.
Bisaka Owobusobozi then desired to be a priest but did not get a chance. He later qualified as a teacher and he started serving the Catholic Church as a choir master. Bisaka composed many Catholic Runyoro hymns sung to to date.
In 1948 he failed to be admitted into a minor seminary, he changed his attitude towards the church leaders. He became critical of the Catholic faith , only to announce his revelation in 1975. A revelation that completely got him out of Church to begin is own church and himself as god –Owobusobozi (The mighty one).
Owobusobozi Religion/Faith
It is called The Faith of Unity, it started as a movement, and it was running in the official Runyoro language, Itambiro ly ‘Omukama Ruhanga Owamahe Goona Ery ‘Obumu (The Association for the Healing Place of God of All Armies) and the Making of a Post-Catholic Religion found in Bunyoro region, Uganda.
Bisaka’s Faith of Unity is located in Kapyemi, a village on the cusp of a hill in Muhurro town, with a population of over 50,000 residents in the district of Kagadi, Western Uganda, some 251 kilometers from Kampala. Kapyemi also serves as the headquarters of the faith, and its most important sacred space and sight.
Bisaka Owobusobozi claimed to have received spiritual powers to heal the sick. Ironically he received the powers from heaven. He ever since then built a vast cult where they put on plain white clothes while going for worship. They pray on every 2nd, 12th and 22nd of each month.
Family
He is “god” and he has married more than enough women that exceed 20 and that are under his empire. With more than 80 children.
Net Worth
Ever since he established his cult, he slowly grew his ‘church’ and by 2021, his followers are past 900,000 majorly from Bunyoro region. He is the richest man in the region and Western Uganda at large with an estimated net worth of over $500 million.
He recently showed his wealth muscle when he contributed 200 million Uganda shillings towards the fight of Coronavirus pandemic.
Owobusobozi Bisaka Death
He died on the 19th of January 2021 and succumbed to Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) His death . However, his death came is a controversy where it is widely believed that he died on the even of Uganda’s general elections, 13th of January 2021, and it was kept a secret in order not to ‘kill’ president Museveni’s votes.
