A good number of Ugandans have come out to run a petition in which they are advocating for
the boda boda Curfew to be lifted.
Despite most sectors of the economy being opened, boda boda are still under tight curfew and
are not allowed to operate as long as the curfew set by the head of state, President Museveni
has been reached.
However, Ugandans have come out to beg to differ because according to them, boda bodas are
the easiest ways through which they can reach various destinations at any time of the day.
Boda bodas are also quite flexible as unlike taxis, they are fast and can help you reach your
exact destination which taxis may not be in position to met hence leaving you stranded and far
away from home.
Apart from this, some people argue that boda bodas contribute significantly to the economy
which means they must be given an opportunity to operate freely just like any other sector in
the country.
Without doubt, it is a known fact that every sector suffered the severe impacts of the lockdown
and this includes the boda boda sector. In order for them to revive their momentum since some
of them are family bread winners, the economy must in deed be opened.
It is upon these grounds that the Minister of Works and Transport General Katumba Wamala
has been called upon to open up the economy and enable boda bodas get back to work just like
other sectors in the country.
