Every news tabloid and media house pronounced the famous and self-proclaimed Pastor Augustine Yiga of Revival Christian Church Kawaala dead, which his family and church members dismissed the allegations.
As a norm of Times Uganda, we bring you the full biography and life journey until when Yiga embarked on the Christian life coming up with his own church and television house.
Pastor Yiga grew up in a strong Catholic family in Bukomansimbi, Masaka but didn’t proceed school at a higher Level as he ended in Primary Four (P.4) though he didn’t practice the same religion at his infant age.
Pastor Yiga after dropping out of school joined musical group with a series of upcoming musicians who came around his home village to perform in 1995. It’s said that a one Livingstone Kasozi was head of the then Lukwata Guitar Singers.
PASTOR YIGA EARLY LIFE
Yiga during his early child days after joining the band, he could not compose songs on his own but rather worked as a house boy for the entire singing group.
At one time, Yiga remarked that they would travel to different parts of the country and his major role was cooking and washing their clothes for the group as the reset carried out the musical performance.
Throughout his journey with the musical band, he acquired skills in playing several instruments, and around 1997, Kasozi (the group leader) was bedridden by that time as he (Yiga) had known how to play the guitar and a couple of instruments.
However, unfortunately during the same year, Yiga abandoned the musical group due to lack of finances and joined witchcraft for over two years when he bought items that included calabashes, spears, coffee and backcloth and set up a shrine in his room.
Yiga after two years denounced witchcraft and joined a group of conmen locally known as ‘Abafere’ as he had gained some wealth from witchcraft and resorted to being a conman.
Fatefully on several occasions Yiga was arrested and remanded in Luzira Prison. One time he was arrested by Kalangala Action Plan and taken to Mbuya Barracks where he affirmed that he was harassed and upon his release he decided to become a born-again Christian joining Pastor Fred Sserugo of Revival Christian Church Kazo.
Pastor Yiga with time became bankrupt but kept on consulting his mentor Pastor Sserugo as his life had changed and become hard. Fortunately he managed to have a following including his mum however his father declined joining his religion and remained a strong catholic.
ABS TELEVISION AND REVIVAL CHURCH, KAWAALA
Pastor Yiga Abizaayo, after getting so firm with his new faith, he started his own church called Christian Revival Church in Kawaala, a Kampala suburb. This started as a small church and of course with time, after improving on his ‘miracle’ making, it kept expanding.
Currently, he is known as one of the respected pastors as far as church numbers are concerned. He introduced a lot in his church like selling the ‘holy trees’ and ‘holy rings’, things that are widely believed to protect his remnants from evil attacks and bring prosperity to them, and he made a lot of money from the sales.
On the same note, Yiga started up a television station that was predominantly aimed at helping him spread the word of God. Still, this same television station was to help his artistes under Revival Band sell their music to the World easily.
