Two priests, recently ordained into the Hoima Catholic Diocese, were involved in a serious car accident while travelling on the Kampala-Hoima highway. The priests whose names are; Rev. Fr. Businge John and Rev. Fr. Peter Mukisa, were in a Toyota Premio that went off the road near Kayunga in Katanabirwa town.
This happened on October 12, 2024, as they were on their way back to Hoima. People who saw the accident said the priests looked to be in really bad shape. They were first taken to a nearby health centre, Sr. Amadeo Health Centre in Bukwiri.
But because they were hurt so badly, they had to be moved to a bigger hospital in Kampala, Rubaga Hospital, where doctors could take better care of them. It’s scary to think about because they had just become priests of Hoima Catholic Diocese on July 27, 2024.
Their ordination was a big deal for the Catholic community in the area. They were both excited to start working in their parishes, Fr. Mukisa at Kitana Parish and Fr. Businge at Kasambya Parish. Thankfully, doctors have said that while they are hurt, they don’t have any serious injuries inside their bodies.
Latest updates from Rubaga hospital indicate that, they are healing from cuts and bruises, and are probably pretty shaken up. Everyone in the Catholic community is relieved they are alive and are praying for them to get better soon.

The police are still trying to figure out what caused the nasty accident. We’re all glad that these two priests are going to be okay. Traffic police is always asking Ugandans to be so vigilant when using roads especially on highways and when it is a rainy time.
