A well-known lawyer, Robert Aldridge Kasango also commonly known as Bob Kasango, succumbed a heart failure last night in Luzira prison at only 46 years.
His death was confirmed by his great associate and business partner Andrew Mwenda. He took his heartfelt condolences on his Twitter handle on how he has lost a great friend.
“My brother and best friend, Robert Aldridge Kasango aka “Q”, just died in Murchison Bay Hospital in Luzira Prison this evening. One of the best lawyers ever, Q was also an intellectual, a great poet. In addition, a journalist, a sports analyst, a human, and a very kind and generous soul. RIP.” Mwenda tweeted
Bob Kasango has been incarcerated since 2018. Bob Kasango was on a 16 years sentence in jail over 15bn shillings pension funds by the anti-corruption court. He was also involved in another high-profile case involving the Tooro Queen Mother Best Kemigisa at some point.
Kasango was sentenced alongside the former top Ministry of Public service officials. In these, we have Jimmy Lwamafa, the former permanent secretary of the Ministry of Public services, the former commissioner for the compensation department in the same ministry, and many others.

It is clearly known that he has died of the same problem he wanted to go and seek medical attention from abroad. But unfortunately, his passport was confiscated on orders of the DPP, saying that he was faking the sickness. Despite having all the required letters from high profile doctors in the country.
Who Kasango Was, Before Death
Friends, describe the late Bob Kasango as a resilient, a tenacious fighter, and a high spirited fellow who did more good for the chained people, and did less for himself. It is on record that, Kasango helped more than 50 prisoners through his connections and free legal advise to leave Luzira prison, as he was being chained in there.
Before being put to prison, he had spent a year while being diagnosed with a heart problem which was keeping him the hospital on and off. He could barely walk and could spend days on oxygen.
Bob Kasango rarely complained about the injustice he was facing from the ‘invincible’ hand of whatever mafia was behind his woes. Friends allege that he well knew he was innocent, but could not fight back to get away from jail. He never allowed jail to bring his fighting spirit down, he instead used the time there to preach peace.
Instead of being a prisoner, he instead became a lecturer teaching law at prison, helped inmates to get international degrees from University of London. He continued to help inmates to convene and pray, fellowship, get closer to God as he invited prison officials to communion with him and other inmates.
Friends of Bob again believe that he did not die, but he fulfilled his call through touching more lives and giving them more hope to life. They believe that he was the Socrates surrounded by Plato, Crito, Aristophanes, Antisthenes, Xenophon, Alcibiades and more.
Bob Kasango Wife, Children and Family
He had a wife called Nice, had three children including Samora, Stephie and Ivana. May his sould rest peacefully.
