News reaching our news desk this evening affirms how the government through the Ministry of Health
has passed a directive to suspend flights to and from India. The directive comes in days after the government warned about the new variant wave of COVID-19 that is spreading from India across the globe and said to be more dangerous than before.
The suspension of India flights will take course with effect from 1st May 2021 where all passengers have been called to cancel all their flights due to this effect. Minister of health Dr. Ruth Acieng has confirmed the development, asserting that even travelers to and from the UK. USA, UAE, Ethiopia, Turkey, and South Africa should consider suspending their flights.
“All passenger flights between Uganda and India are highly affected, the country has suspended
beginning 1st may midnight,” Dr. Ruth Acieng affirmed. She further added that even travelers to Europe should consider suspending nonessential flights.
“Travelers from UK, USA, Ethiopia, and south Africa should consider suspending no-essential flights,” she added. She has put more guidelines to be followed without fail, that include;
All traveler who may have been in India or traveled through India on a flight in the last 14 days, regardless of the route taken shall not be allowed into Uganda. Also, travelers arriving from India before suspension date regardless of the route of travel, are expected to be in possession of a PCR COVID-19 test certificate conducted with in 120 hours from the time of sample removal.
