Uganda has many talented female artistes that have penetrated in East Africa and Africa as a whole musically. And because of that, the competition in the Ugandan music industry has been high over the past years and this year as well. Regardless of the Covid-19 lock down that affected both male and female artistes, they have not stepped down this year and here we bring you the list of the top 5 best female artistes 2022.
Azawi
Priscilla Zawedde aka Azawi is one of the top Ugandan female artistes, songwriter, dancer and a multi-talented performer. She does various genres of music including Afrobeat, raggae and RnB to Afrofusion a genre she says isn’t specific to any country. She was the highest streaming artiste 2020-2021 in the country on Apple music and third highest on Spotify. Azawi is currently under Swagz Avenue and she is number 1 on the list of the top 5 best female artistes in Uganda.
Winnie Nwagi
Winnie Nwagi real name Winnie Nakanwagi is a a Ugandan singer, songwriter and a platinum recording artiste. She was one of the most selling artistes in 2018, 2022 as well. Nwagi is signed under Swagz Avenue and has songs such as Malaika and more that have topped to the best song of the year. She kicked to start her music career during the Coca-Cola Rated Next Competition where she competed and proved her talent and here she appears number 2 on the list of the top 5 best female artistes.
Spice Diana
Spice Diana is a recording artiste, singer and songwriter. She is one of the top female artistes in the country for years and this year 2022. She is ranked number 3. She started singing during her Advanced level of education and she gained popularity after releasing Onsanula song which she recorded with Dr. Fizo.
Sheebah Karungi
She is highly regarded as one of the biggest artistes in the country with a career spanning over 10 years in music. Sheebah was named one of the most influential women in Uganda 2017 and she was held that position up to date.
Vinka
Veronica Lugya famously known as Vinka is a Ugandan singer, songwriter and producer. She was signed by the Sony Music Africa to control her publishing music rights in 2018. She is widely known for her international Chips and Ketch Up, Thank God and many more. And she has topped on the list of the best female artistes of the year 2022.
