Socialite Sheila Nadege, alias Don Zella, has taken Speke Apartments to the Civil Division of the High Court seeking compensation worth $125,000 (around 460 million Uganda Shillings).
Don Zella claims that while residing at the posh residence in Kampala, thieves broke into apartment number 107 which she was renting and stole personal belongings valued at that amount.
Don Zella claims she lost eight passports (7 US and 1 Ugandan) requiring $2,000 (Shs. 7 million) for replacement, two laptops and a hard drive worth $3,000 (Shs. 11 million), jewelry worth $15,000 (about Shs55 million), and $90,000 (Shs. 332 million) in cash.
Through lawyers from Semuyaba, Iga & Co Advocates, Don Zella argues that the loss was caused by the negligence of Speke Apartments management whom she now holds accountable. She claimed to have left the apartment locked and kept some valuables in the safe but did not find them upon returning.
Don Zella stated that upon raising her theft complaint, Speke Apartments revealed that the items had been taken by a one Jeremiah Ojok who had been booked into apartment number 110 on that day.
Other items stolen items include four phones worth $4,800 (Shs. 18 million), two kids’ tablets worth $600 (Shs. 2 million), a Nikon D850 camera worth $4,000 (Shs. 14 million), and 30 million Ugandan shillings in cash. We shall keep you posted.
