NBS television news anchor Samson Kasumba has some good advice for Ugandan female artistes who dress indecently while on stage performing.
For a long time, it is believed that in order for female artists to get a huge fan base their dressing code has to play part and most of African artistes copy the styles of artistes in Western culture.
The urban top trending female artistes in Uganda like Sheebah and Winnie Nwagi are known for dressing in very skimpy. And see me through clothes that almost expose their whole bodies.
However, Azawi has proved them wrong. Swangz Avenue artist Azawi held a successful concert over the weekend and to people’s surprise, she was dressed decently and her fans happily enjoyed in a completely sold-out concert.
According to Samson Kasumba, what matters in the entertainment industry is music not clothes someone is putting on. He said Ugandans should know that one can still sell out in Uganda with clothes on because Azawi proved it.
“I hear Azawi had all her clothes on and the music did all the talking. Let’s just say she planned to show case just the music to her adoring fans. Those who had hoped to see other things sorry this is Azawi not…You can sell out in Uganda with your clothes on. Proof of concept” Samson Kasumba said.
Indecent dressing has taken troll of the entertainment industry especially in music. This has been evidenced in circumstances where Ministry of Integrity has been intervening and stopping some artistes from performing.
