Reckless Taxi Driver Claims Four Lives in Fort Portal

A reckless taxi driver has claimed four lives in Bundibugyo district due to over speeding. The tragic accident occurred on Bundibugyo-Fort-Portal highway in Bugama village which is located in Semuliki National Park.

Basing on the people that were around at the time of the accident, the taxi UBH 654J was overspeeding and in the end, it lost control and ended up hitting pedestrians that were trying to cross the road.

The victims include Kabasinguzi Kelvin, Kobusinge Grace, Muhindo Medren, and Asaba Kyamunye.

Among the victims, two died on spot after being hit by the taxi while two more were rushed to hospital but unfortunately announced dead on arrival. The fifth victim however luckily survived but with multiple injuries according to Mugisa Mahamat the area LC II Chairperson.

Additionally, the DPC of Bundibugyo Aggrey Okumu confirmed the unfortunate incident also promising that they shall dig deeper into the incidents that happened prior to the accident.

He went ahead to caution drivers against recklessly driving as it not only endangers the lives of passengers and pedestrians but also the lives of the driver.

Recently, there was an accident along Masaka road as a speeding truck rammed into a taxi causing the loss of multiple lives at ago. This has happened over and over due to various weaknesses mostly on the driver’s side.
