Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu popularly known by his stage name Bobi Wine was born on 12th February 1982 at Nkozi hospital where his late mother worked at the time. From the time Kyagulanyi stepped into this world, he learned the essence of hard work as he worked daily to climb up the leaders.
To nurture him for the twists and turns in life, Bobi Wine joined Kitante Hill School where he attained his Uganda Certificate of Education back in 1996, while in 1998 he attained his Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education at Kololo Senior Secondary School.
Right after his graduation from high school, he joined Makerere University where he study and focused on his passion in music, dance and drama which later saw him graduate in the year of 2003.
This was at this time in life that he started off his music career adopting the stage name of Bobi Wine. Starting out with the sounds of “Akagoma,” ”Funtula” and “Sunda” alongside fellow singer Ziggy D.
He continued to grasp his audience’s attention music wise until the whole of East Africa had it’s eyes tuned to him with his reggae, dancehall and afrobeat hits. Bobi Wine also formed the firebase crew as well as proclaiming himself the president of the Ghetto Republic of Uganja.
For a long time, music was the prime source of Bobi Wine’s livelihood as the Ghetto president was even in position to establish his busabala based one love beach only increasing on his revenue. Recently, the musician acknowledged receiving receipts suming up to 60 million from his official YouTube channel, Kasiwulira.
Aside from music, Bobi Wine also ventured into the film industry. In 2010, Kyagulanyi was part of Cleopatra Koheirwe’s Yogera drama, in 2015, he was the lead role alongside Helen Lukoma in the Twaweza-supported film, Situka, aside from these, Kyagulanyi has worked on many films.
In 2011, Kyagulanyi tied the knot with longtime lover Barbie Itungo. The two had met while Bobi Wine was a student at Makerere whereas Barbie was then a high school student at Bweranyangi Girls School.
Currently the couple is blessed with four children Solomon Kampala Kyagulanyi Sekayi, Shalom Namagembe, Shadrack Shillings Mbogo and Ssubi Shine Nakayi. His wife, Barbie Kyagulanyi is a devoted farmer no wonder their magere based home is surrounded by a plantation.
Once, the Kyagulanyis run a television show on Bukedde TV for two consecutive years in which Bobi Wine was the director while his wife Barbie Kyagulanyi was the producer with media personality Karitas Karisimbi.
Back in 2016, Kyagulanyi joined the International University of East Africa to pursue a degree in law. A year later, he ran for office as the Member of Parliament for Kyadondo east which he won joining the 10th Parliament.
He 2019, he announced his intention to run for president. During the same time, he founded the National Unity Platform, Uganda’s current strongest opposition political party and although he lost to President Museveni, he still serves as party President for NUP.
With a juggle in between music, film, Politics, agriculture, and business, Kyagulanyi most definitely can pass as the richest Ugandan artist and one of the richest artists in East Africa.

He has taken a kin interest into real estate since he owns hotels, apartments which all pour large sums of shillings upon shillings into bank account hence pushing him steps further than other musicians.
Aside from that, he is the proprietor of One Love Beach Busabala, and Kamokya based Semakookiro plaza.
Within the city, Kyagulanyi owns a number of taxis and boda bodas where he collects money on a daily basis, no wonder, by 2021, he was ranked as Uganda’s richest musician with a networth of $5million.
