President Museveni Pens Down Emotional Tribute for Late Dr. Archbishop Cyprian Kizito Lwanga
It is such a dark time not only for the Catholic Church but for the country at large after the heart breaking news about the sudden death of Archbishop Cyprian Kizito Lwanga was announced
yesterday’s afternoon. President Museveni has mourned him too.
The mourners include the President of Uganda, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who took to his Twitter handle to express his grief and share in sorrow with all the mourners country wide as he wrote;
“With profound grief, I have learnt of the death of Kampala Archbishop Cyprian Kizito Lwanga. I join the Catholic Church, all religious faithful, and the country in mourning Archbishop Lwanga. He has died in faith. May God grant his soul eternal peace.” President Museveni stated.
This however attracted a number of surprising responses from the twitter “Bazzukulu” that left
many stunned. In one of the responses, @JJapino a twitter bystander responded to the president’s tribute with a humorless joke that read “ Tulinda gwee wekaa owulire party beer ku mbiizi.”
This can be loosely translated as “ You are the only one we are waiting for to dear, then the
celebrations will begin, beer and pork.” This is not the first time such harsh words are being thrown toward the President’s way as it seems to have become a recent phenomenon for people to wish for the death of the head of state.
On the same note, similar utterances were made when Tanzanian revolutionary leader, John Pombe Magufuli died as many tweeps expressed their admirance for the tragic happening in neighboring Tanzania.
Although President Museveni has turned a blind eye towards many of these attitudes, the “Bazzukulu”
do not seem to be slowing down and this is majorly attributed to the revolutionary change they have been demanding but failed to attain in the recently concluded Presidential elections.
