According to the official communication released by the Brig General Felix Kulaigye, Maj General Charles Okidi was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General. This promotion also saw him earn the role of Commander of the Uganda Air Force. In the same vein Lt Col Stephen Kiggundu was ordained with a new rank of Brig General which then saw him take up the deputy Air Forces commander.
“H.E the president & Commander in Chief of the UPDF has made Changes in UPDF – Air Forces as Follows; Lt Gen Charles Lutaaya appointed senior presidential advisor on matters of Air Forces,Maj Gen Charles Okidi promoted to Lt Gen appointed Commander Air Forces,while Lt Col Stephen Kiggundu promoted to Brig Gen & appointed Deputy Command Air Forces. Congrats to the Gen officers.”
It should be recalled that this week Museveni announced that the Air Force of Uganda had attacked and destroyed a big camp of the ADF rebels in Congo. This was done with the permission of the government of DR Congo.
President Museveni further added that although these terrorists fled from the UPDF’s area of operation, they would be pursued further as long as there is permission from the DR Congo government. Museveni also revealed that this move just shows how Africa as the capacity to solve such long standing chronic security problems.
