News has it that Next Radio Uganda has laid off some employees from their duties as they prepare to
introduce new programming. The frequently listened to radio has then come with bad feedback from the listeners after this incident from the Naguru based radio station.
Furthermore, a memo addressed to all the radio station’s employees explains why the
listeners shifted to other stations.
“The findings indicate that the tastes and preferences of our next radio audience have since
shifted, requiring us to realign ourselves to meet these demands,” The harsh memo reads.
Realignment of shows means that some presenters with shows that are no longer interesting to
the listeners are likely not to return to the station.
“With immediate effect, there will be an extensive programme review, including the realignment of all shows on next radio. As a result, all next radio personnel shall have scheduled engagements with the people and culture office on their new roles in line with these reviews during this period,” The memo from Next Radio Uganda reads further.
Some of the employees on the verge of losing their jobs include Douglas Lwanga, Karitas
Karisimbi, Canary Mugume, Qitui, Ronnie McVex, Zahara Totto, DJ Slick Stuart among others.
