Kiboga Young/ Mbale Heroes FC has appointed Scottish coach Steven Pritchard on a one year contract employment deal ahead of the 2020-2021 Startimes FUFA Big League season. Pritchard has stayed in Uganda for over 10 years and coached Rwenzori Province in the FUFA Drum tournament.

He replaces promotional specialist Richard Makumbi who quit the Mbale based side to join another Big League side Nyamityobora FC. According to Mbale Heroes Media Officer Joseph Mukhooli, Pritchard will be assisted by former Heroes player Bobic Odowa.

Heroes missed chance to qualify to Uganda Premier League after losing 1-0 to Kitara FC in the FUFA Big League Playoffs. The team has so far signed experienced players like defender Edgar ‘Sharp’ Bwogi and holding midfielder Davis Mayanja (both on loan from Maroons), Ibrahim Kibumba from SC Villa and Musa Malunda who formerly played for Sofapaka FC in Kenya.

Mbale Heroes has also retained Maroons FC right back Julius Kizito, who was on loan last season.

What is Mbale Heroes Club?

The club was founded in 1970 and it is located in Mbale. It was merged with Kiboga Young as announced during a press conference at the Mt. Elgon Hotel in Mbale in September 2020.
