Makerere University Set to Resume Studies Amidst Fire Challenges

Makerere University in a space of two days has witnessed two fire outbreaks that have not only
destroyed University structures but as well the old records that had not been digitalized and two main
wings.

On Sunday, in the wee hours of the night, the country woke up in shock as the institution was ablaze
with the cause of the fire not ascertained as yet, however after the visit of the first lady who doubles as
minister of education Janet Kataha Museveni did not yield anything positive but rather fire break was
experienced on the other wing.

These developments however have sparked off a number of questions amongst the students and the
the public at large questioning whether studies will resume for the finalists or not following the prevailing
scenarios.

The news reaching Times Uganda news desk however affirm that learning at the institution for the final
year students will not be hampered by the ongoing challenges of firebreak with top authorities noting
that students should report to the university as communicated by the authorities before.
