The Kawempe North Member of parliament elect Segirinya Muhammad has today been granted bail after spending a week at Kitalya Government prison.
On 22nd March, Segirinya Muhammad was arrested for leading an unlawful peaceful demonstration with the National Unity platform supporters as they demanded the immediate release of their “innocent” supporters. He was accused of inciting violence among people.
In the recent court hearing, Ssegirinya’s lawyers led by Jonathan Kiryowa could not come to an agreement on various points of the law and this forced the Magistrate to adjourn the hearing to today.
Today, Segirinya Muhammad appeared in Court through a videoconference. Through his lawyers led by Medard Seggona, he was able to be bailed out at a fee of 3Million Uganda Shillings.
