Recently news struck Uganda music lovers that Joseph Mayanja better known by the stage name Jose Chameleon who had allegedly been given a beefy spot in Uganda Communication Commission(UCC) by General Salim Saleh to represent fellow Ugandans.
This has caused a big debate in the Ugandan industry some saying he is not the right person and can
never be reliable, others emphasized on how he has been in the industry too long and knows the
problems being faced by individual musicians.
Musicians are very complicated people who express there emotions freely, they would never follow
a system lead by suit men or lawyers therefore choosing Mayanja is a very clever act to make them feel
more involved in the governing system.
Jose Chameleon has managed to stay on top of the industry for more than 20 years and he is famous African wise, all of his companions they might have chosen joined politics for example Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine is the leader of opposition and Moses Ssali alias Bebi Cool is an NRM die hard.
His career began in 1996 as a DJ at the Missouri night club in Kampala, He was later signed to
the Kenyan record label Ogapa Deejays, which released his first single, ‘Bageya’ that featured Redsan.
And later came back to Uganda to follow his solo career, Jose Chameleon made mega hits like Mama Mia, Bado, Jamila, Kipepeo, Bageya, Shida za Dunia, Bayuda, Njo Karibu among others.
