Gov’t Activates Panic Button and Allocates 6 Billion to Ugandan Artistes

As the political atmosphere gets tense and interesting, Government of Uganda has come out and allocated Ugx 6 billion to Uganda’s performing arts in a bid to eradicate poverty and improve the livelihood of Ugandan artistes.

The Uganda Musicians Association President YKee Benda confirmed the development but however,
affirmed that the money has been allocated though not yet received by the three governing bodies however once the cash is received the committee shall allocate to Ugandan artistes respectively as he addressed the media.

Well government has allocated the money but we have not received it we shall have plans for the money once we have the cash with us,  some times pledges are made but not fulfilled so it's better to plan for something you have at hand” YKee Benda affirmed.  However,  on contrary this cash is not meant for individual benefit but for artistes’ Sacco, according to an insider,  news has it that it will be offered as loans to artistes to improve their lives but with no interest.

This money however is entitled to all individuals in the arts industry. As much as this development has come on,  many artistes and stakeholders in the industry have expressed fears that it would create further divisions and following uncoordinated corporation amongst the artistes because selfish and personal interests.
