Right Honourable Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga has today called out to the government to revisit the long-overdue curfew policy.
The Kamuli woman Member of Parliament articulated her point citing the impact of curfew on the economy and on the Holy month of Ramadhan as the main reasons as to why this policy must be revisited.
In her words, she said “I’ve instructed the Prime Minister to come tomorrow & update us on our demand for a review of the curfew policy. We are concerned about its impact on the economy & on the Holy month of Ramadhan which requires nocturnal movements by the faithful.”
However, it must be noted that this is not the first time Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga is raising this point as on the 31st March 2021, she also tweeted;
“ I urge Gov’t to revisit the curfew policy. It’s negatively impacting the economy; e.g ., the Tourism industry. After the relaxation of d lockdown Airlines resumed flights into & out of Entebbe. KLM, Ethiopian & Turkish Airlines jet in after 9.00 pm & take off thereafter.”

Although the Speaker’s pleas initially fell on deaf ears, she has still persisted on her cause and hopefully, the government will hid to her request this time and revise the curfew policy.
