It has been an intense time, full of uncertainty and drama before the incumbent president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni was declared the winner of Uganda Presidential Elections 2021. This has come in after two days of waiting from 14th January when the votes were casted. He is now the president elect.
In the results announced by the chairman Electoral Commission Uganda, Mr Byabakama, it is being communicated that president Museveni garnered 58.64% of the whole votes casted as his immediate rival Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine gathered 34.83% of the total votes.
In figures, Museveni collected 5,851,037 votes ad Bobi Wine collected 3,475,298 votes. This brings to an end all the speculation that maybe Kyagulanyi would turn the tables in the last minute and hit the past 45% mark and make the incumbent Museveni fail to raise the required 51%.
On the other hand, Kyagulanyi Ssentamu had rejected the vote counting results yesterday after they were showing that Museveni was leading yet he says that he is the one that was supposed to lead. He then announced himself the President-Elect of Uganda 2021 in a press briefing.
This forced the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) to pile more soldiers at Bobi Wine’s home and some jumped over the fence and entered his compound. In something Bobi Wine described as a “siege on his home” in a tweet that he made yesterday.
