US President Donald Trump has pardoned several celebrities in one of the final acts of his term. Trump, granted clemency to 143 people early Wednesday morning, including rappers Lil Wayne and Kodak Black.
Lil Wayne was charged in Florida in November 2020 with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, a federal offense that carries a potential sentence of up to 10 years in prison. A month before Lil Wayne was officially charged, and a week before the presidential election in November 2020, Wayne endorsed Trump on social media following a meeting with the POTUS.
“Just had a great meeting with @realdonaldtrump @potus besides what he’s done so far with criminal reform, the platinum plan is going to give the community real ownership. He listened to what we had to say today and assured he will and can get it done,” Lil Wayne captioned a photo of the two on Twitter.
Others pardoned included his former campaign manager Steve Bannon and former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick. Trump seized his President of the US roles today the 20th of January 2021, and he left with a record of being the first president not to attend his successor’s inauguration ceremony in over 100 years.
