KAMPALA- The National Unity platform’s Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine has today been arrested for staging a peaceful protest at City square in Kampala by police. This happens moments after he launched the ‘court of the people’ to reclaim their ‘stolen’ victory in the recently concluded presidential elections.
It is being learnt that, this demonstration/protest has been organized specifically to demand for the immediate release of all Ugandans that are in jail for no reason. For a long time now, Robert Kyagulanyi has been seeking for justice for the people that were abducted and are being tortured in the hands of the government. But the justice has been delayed.
Consequently, this has forced Robert Kyagulanyi to lead his party Members of Parliament (elect) and other leaders in the protest alleged abduction, torture and murder of his supporters. They are also seeking for the unconditional release of their comrades that were arrested during the last presidential election campaigns.
To add salt to an injury, it should be remembered that a week ago, the speaker of parliament Rebecca Kadaga, asked for the names of all the people alleged to be missing. But there was still disagreements and reluctance in the parliament which has today forced the National Unity Platform (NUP) people to protest.
The end result has been their leader, Bobi Wine to be arrested and swiftly driven to his home amid tight security as others were dispersed by tear gas and the rest. The Police has however not made any official statement about this. keep it Times Uganda for the latest updates about the matter.
