“He (Kirabo) did not appear in court after realising that the evidence against him is overwhelming, please locate him!” Gashumba called upon the general public in regards to finding Kirabo whose case resumed last month following a six years wait.
Prior to this, Kirabo had confessed to the murder and was charged in the Jinja Magistrates Court for murder before bringing remanded. While on November 24, 2016, he was granted bail. And has been out of the coolers since then.
After this, the case was moved to Mukono on instruction by the Principle Judge at the time Yorokamu Bamwine. Following a state compliant that the offense was committed in Mukono jurisdiction.
In 2017, the Mukono High Court stopped the case due to lack of funds to foster the hearing. While in 2021, Mathew Kirabo sought return of his passport from the same court on grounds that he wanted to travel to the states for further studies.
His lawyer, Isaac Kato went on to claim that his client needed to urgently leave the country. And he couldn’t even make appearance at court only for Kirabo to be discovered outside the court premises a black Harrier SUV. This prompted the family to pressure court into attending to the case.
